Soft Sugar Cookies

1 c. Shortening

1 tsp. Salt

1 1/2 tsp. Grated orange or lemon rind

1 tsp. Nutmeg

4 eggs, beaten

2 c. Sugar

4 1/2 c. Flour

2 tsp. Baking Powder

1 tsp Baking Soda

4 TBSP. Milk

Start by

Preheating oven at 400 degrees. Then Combine the shortening, salt, orange rind and nutmeg. Blend well.

Next

Beat in eggs and sugar. Add flour and baking soda to egg mixture alternately with milk.

Final Steps

Drop by teaspoon into granulated sugar; roll in sugar and place on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 8-12 minutes.
